The purpose of this study is to assess a basic injection pipe of an industrial pulse-jet bag filter and then to propose a new design of the pipe in order to improve the operation of the pulse-jet bag filter. The basic injection pipe has all the holes of constant diameter. To characterise the injection pipe, experimental measurements and CFD simulations were carried out. The impact of the injection pipe on the behaviour of a bag filter moved under the holes of the injection pipe has been assessed from experimental measurements. The main result of the study is that a new injection pipe geometry with decreasing hole diameter from the inlet to the end of the pipe allows a more uniform behaviour of the instrumented bag filter moved under and along the pipe. This better uniformity is characterized by both the calculated average peak pressure and the calculated average root mean square acceleration along the height of the bag filter.
